Hello,

I am Kayla, owner and founder of Little Feathers Photography. Mama to 3 boys who are 10, 5, 2 and a 5 month old little girl. These kids inspire me everyday to be a better person.

Little Feathers Photography started out as Photography by Kayla. It has been a work in progress for many years. It started as a child going for drives with my dad to find things to photograph. I have always known that I wanted to pursue photography seriously but was losing precious time waiting for a "perfect" opportunity. The birth of my son was the now or never moment. Since first finding out of his tiny but growing existence, my passion to capture the little things has grown immensely. I am still building my knowledge and ideas but have a passion that is making it all a success.

The three areas I am most passionate about is Maternity/birth, newborn/babies and family. I love the beauty of creating and carrying a baby in your body. Birth is the one thing you are involved in and yet you can't see the beauty of bringing a child into the world or sharing others emotions or watching your own as you meet your child for the first time because you are living it. To have a photo to look back on and re-live that moment all over is so special. I personally look at my birth photos all the time because I LOVE having those fleeting memories captured. Our newborns are only little for a few weeks and they grow so fast. They go from delicate, fragile beings to children before you know it. You're so caught up in the cuddles and feeding that it's so important to have photos to look back on, to remember just how perfectly they fit in your arms and cuddled against your warmth. As a mother we often are the ones behind the lens and have few photos of us in the moment with our children. I want to capture the everyday emotions that families witness and want to cherish for years to come. I'm very much a sentimental person and love to hear about my past and want things to pass onto my children. The little things can easily be forgotten if you don't have a record of it. Looking back through photos of your past is priceless. There is no better time than today to preserve those little memories forever.

I prefer to shoot in natural light than to use flash and I love candid emotions and capturing the real person inside rather than overly posed and missing out on their genuine character. Please keep natural lighting in your thoughts if you are to choose an indoor location.
